Dorrance is located 3 minutes South of I-70 and and 10 minutes South of Wilson Lake. Dorrance has an active American Legion, Historical Society, and is home to Pro-Bound Sports. Two bar and grills, along with a convenience store/gas station fuel and feed the community. Certainly, with a population of less than 200 you can scratch the frustration of waiting on anything off your list!

In the Fall, Granny Mae’s Pumpkin Patch opens up from the last Saturday in September until the last weekend of October. The pumpkin patch is located southwest of Dorrance and is a Kansas tourism favorite. Each year in May, the old 40 Bar & Grill hosts the “Blessing of the Bikes”. This annual event attracts up to 400 area motorcycle enthusiasts around the area for social time, great food, music, and of course, the blessing. Dorrance was one of the filming locations for the 1973 film, Paper Moon.
Dorrance is governed by a mayor-council structure. The community is served by Central Plains USD 112 public school district with students attending schools in nearby Wilson, KS. Western Electric provides electricity to local residents. H & B Communications provides landline telephone service and offers cable television and internet access Most residents use natural gas for heating fuel; service is provided by Midwest Energy, Inc.
