Wilson, the “Czech Capital of Kansas”,  is located just south of I-70 on U.S. Route 40. A town settled by the Czech immigrants, Wilson is located in western Ellsworth County with a population of approximately 750.  Wilson is only 10 minutes South of Wilson Lake offering water recreation, hiking, boating and fishing options. Close proximity to the lake make this community a “go to” for fishing and lake recreation enthusiasts, making the residential and commercial market appealing to locals and out of towners as well. The housing market consists of 400 residential single family homes with price points from $40,000 to $175,000, appealing to owners and investors alike.

 The historic Midland Hotel was a filming location for the 1973 film, Paper Moon and offers overnight stay options, unique food and drink selection, and outdoor patio style networking/event space.  Enjoy shopping culture style retail available at the local grocery store offering popular meat market options. Kansas Originals offers everything Kansas, and a downtown mercantile gift shop, and antique shop add to the retail options. Likewise, a liquor store, ice cream and soda shop, and café offering homemade dishes and delicious pies all promise unique appeal. Last but not least, the quaint bed and breakfast in town is a traveler favorite.

The community celebrates their Czech heritage with a large after harvest festival annually on the last Saturday of July.  In addition, the Pride Park-Splash pad is a regional favorite and Wilson is home to many more parks and outdoor activities. For instance, the Ed and LaVange Shiroky Park features the Worlds Largest Handpainted Czech Egg.  Jellison Park/ Ballfields, Lions Club Park, Veterans Park, and the WEDC Disc Golf Course offer a variety of outdoor options.

 Wilson is served by Central Plains USD 112 public school district and is governed by a mayor-council. The community is powered by Rolling Hills Co-Op, communications are offered by Wilson Communications, and heating/gas provided by Midwest Energy.
